Project Overview
Northern Industrial Construction was contracted by Qulliq Energy Corporation to design, supply, ship and erect five 30’x50’ Quonset Structures. The work consisted of site preparation, supply and installation of; electrical service and lighting, waste oil burner, insulation & vapour barrier package, forced air unit heaters, overhead & passage doors, and interior floor. NIC crews were able to complete the foundation and erection of the buildings in just over 2 weeks per location, followed by the electrical and mechanical crew who completed the project in under a week.
Project Execution
Successfully delivering this project across multiple remote Northern communities required detailed planning, coordination, and logistical precision. Northern Industrial Construction leveraged its extensive Northern experience to ensure seamless execution at every stage.
Materials for each community were carefully staged and marine-crated in advance, allowing for efficient transport via sealift and minimizing delays upon arrival. Crew mobilization was strategically aligned with sealift schedules to ensure materials were received, managed, and installed without interruption.
Despite operating across several locations simultaneously, NIC maintained strong project oversight and coordination, enabling consistent progress and quality across all sites. This approach allowed crews to complete foundations and building erection in just over two weeks per location, followed by rapid completion of electrical and mechanical systems in under a week.
